Miguel Armando Espinoza Castro, 26, has been arrested for yesterday’s shooting at 210 E. Brown Road in Mesa.
The victim, Shane Gilliam, 37, has died from his injuries today, police said. Mesa officials said he was at his family’s home when Castro entered the residence with two or three other males and displayed a handgun. Gilliam confronted Castro and the other males and was thrown to the floor. Witnesses described hearing shots fired and upon entering the living room/kitchen area, observed Gilliam on the floor.
Police said their investigation revealed that Gilliam’s cousin’s girlfriend allegedly owed Castro money for pills. Castro was identified as the alleged shooter today and has been placed under arrest, charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of burglary in the first degree.
