The idea came out of lack of knowledge and a nudge from a coach.
Start a coaches poll.
Instead of trying to fudge some faux knowledge on all of the boys soccer teams in the 6A Conference we have the coaches use their true knowledge to come up with a legitimate poll.
The response for the first one is lighter than we had hoped, but a good start in getting a feel for what teams should be considered contenders as they enter week three of competition.
Brophy is the overwhelming favorite after snagging all but one of the first-place votes, while Mesa is the only local program to garner votes to come in at No. 8.
Some of the coaches had corresponding comments to go along with the rankings including one about the Jackrabbits.
“The players trust their coach and would run through a wall for the team.”
Here are some of the other comments:
“(Gilbert players) are machines no matter what level of ability they have.”
“Chandler is on the map every year now, strong senior class.”
“Hamilton well coached and always competing.”
“Desert Vista built up the past two years, will be good contenders.”
