The Perry girls soccer team has been dominant in winning its first nine games including four wins over ranked teams.

The Pumas, who lost in the state 6A semifinals the last two seasons, have outscored their opponents 51-3 so far.

Perry beat No. 6 Basha, 1-0, and No. 3 Desert Vista, 3-1, at the Coyote Classic at Campo Verde with the win over the Thunder coming in the championship game.

It led to coaches voting Perry the top team in 10 of the 12 ballots turned in this week.

“Their the top team and it’s not even close,” one voter said.

Undefeated Xavier dropped to No. 2 but still managed two first-place votes. It’s a steady drop off from there to finish out the top 10.

Basha was the biggest riser of the week as the Bears went from No. 10 to No. 6.

“I know Desert Vista beat them, but (Basha) is the better team,” one of the coaches commented.

Red Mountain was the only local team to get votes as the Mountain Lions were ranked No. 10 in two of the polls but didn’t have enough support to make the top 10.

Here is a look at the second coaches poll of the season:
