Brophy finishes the year as the 6A Conference Boys Basketball Coaches Poll champion.

The Broncos knocked off No. 1 Pinnacle, the No. 2 team this week, in a tightly contested game to get the final nod.

“Brophy proved me wrong,” said a coach who moved the Broncos to No. 1 after the win.

Another coach said, “Big win and keep winning close games, which good teams do.”

In fact, the Broncos (23-1) entered the final regular season game against rival St. Mary’s undefeated against Arizona teams.

The final top five was rounded out by Mountain Pointe, Desert Vista and Hamilton.

The second five has a heavy Mesa feel to it as Mesa was sixth, Red Mountain seventh and Mountain View made its way back into the top 10 in the final spot.

It’s shaping up to be a one of those years where the Elite Eight is up for grabs and at that point just about any of those teams can get hot and win it all.

Until then Brophy heads into the postseason as the 6A Conference’s top team.

Here is a look at this week’s top 10:
