Cathy Poplin, executive director of the Arizona Technology in Education Association (AzTEA), presented the 2017 Technology Director Innovation Award to Nathan Myers, Mesa Public Schools director of educational technology, at the Feb. 14 district governing board meeting. Myers received a certificate, one-year membership to AzTEA and a digital badge for his online presence.
Myers’ selection was based on the pivotal role he has played in the implementation of technology in district classrooms. From overseeing innovation teams to assessing different technologies and leading a one-to-one technology rollout for high-school students, to designing a professional development technology capstone for educators, Myers is an integral part of the district’s technology initiative.
“Nathan is an amazing asset,” said Dr. Suzan DePrez, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. “His ability to see the big picture and expand others’ views has allowed the district to successfully integrate technology into the learning environment. Nathan sets the perfect balance between being a natural leader and a valued team player.”
