
The weather might have been a bit brisk on Friday, but a couple of Mesa schools came out pretty hot at the Desert Vista baseball tournament.
Desert Ridge took on defending state champion Hamilton, Mountain View started the tournament with 5A Conference Mesquite and Red Mountain opened with the host Thunder.
The Jaguars knocked off Hamilton, the Toros had to fight off Mesquite after letting a 10-5 lead evaporate while the Mountain Lions fell 8-6 to Desert Vista.
Desert Ridge used a six-run fourth inning on the way to a 11-4 lead against the Huskies and held on for a 11-10 win.
Mountain View scored eight runs in the first two innings, only to see the Wildcats score five in the fifth to tie the game at 10. The Toros scored in the sixth and seventh for the win.

Riley Pagel had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs and Kai Murphy had two RBIs for Red Mountain in the loss to Desert Vista.
