Boys soccer coaches poll: Upheaval, parity rule 6A Conference

The top two teams in the 6A boys soccer scene are clearly ahead of the rest of the field.

Undefeated Brophy and Chandler, who are a combined 30-0-4, have separated from the rest of the conference.

Two teams from the last 6A Boys Soccer Coaches’ top five, fell out of the top 10 after the action over Christmas break.

San Luis, which came in at 3, and Hamilton, which was fifth, still received votes, but not enough to stay in the top 10.

Each poll has brought some upheaval with the top 10, meaning other than Chandler and Brophy, the rest of the field is pretty open with some parity mixed in with a month left in the regular season.

Brophy, however, has been entrenched in the top spot all year and was a unanimous choice again.

“Based on results so far, the best team hands down,” one coach said. “Would be tough to beat on their own field or any other turf field.”

Desert Vista went from unranked to No. 4 after a solid showing at Arizona Soccer Showcase.

“They have shown they can play tough when it counts.”

The only local team to get votes is Mesa as the Jackrabbits, who weren’t ranked in the last poll, came in at No. 10 after beating Corona del Sol on the Aztecs’ home field.
