Chandra Hansen is a beloved volunteer with the Dobson High School Marching Band. She is admired for her energy, creativity and kind spirit. Hansen was recognized at the Jan. 24 Mesa Public Schools board meeting as Volunteer of the Month.

For 11 years, Hansen has devoted her time and energy to the Dobson High School Marching Band.

As uniform coordinator, Hansen ensures the Mustangs feel confident and look smart. With a band roster that averages 120 students each year, it’s no small task.

The amount of work it takes to dress the band is mindboggling. Hansen’s organizational skills and eye for the correct fit are invaluable to the music program. Everything is golden, right down to the picture-perfect plume in each hat.

Hansen is loved and respected by the Dobson community. Students call her mom, and she knows all of their names by heart. She’s a shining role model who radiates positivity and love.

Hansen received a certificate, tumbler, coaster, candy bouquet and copy of the tribute from Mesa Public Schools. She was also awarded a $50 Amazon gift card from the Mesa Foundation for Educational Excellence.
