Red Mountain picked up its first win of the season with a 27-21 victory at Basha in a 6A Conference match up Friday night.

Four different players scored as Siope Kolomatangi, Zach Bowers, Ty McElroy and Lance Lawson found the end zone against Basha (1-3).

After losing to Chandler and Hamilton to open the season, the Mountain Lions picked up the first win the Mike Peterson era and host Boulder Creek this week.

Gilbert 48, Dobson 0

The Mustangs (1-2) were overwhelmed by the talented Gilbert offense that was helped out by recovering an onside kick in the first quarter on the way to a 20-0 first quarter lead in a 6A non-conference contest.

The Tigers (2-1) ran for 218 yards and quarterback Jack Plummer threw for four touchdowns on 11 of 15 passing for 133 yards.

Tolleson 37, Mesa 14

The Jackrabbits dropped to 1-3 after falling behind 21-0 early in a 6A Conference game against the Wolverines (2-1).

Mesa got on the board when Kris Jackson, who finished with 104 yards, scored from 11-yards out just before the half. Instead of carrying that momentum into the second half, Tolleson’s Andre Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff for a score, his third of the half.

The Jackrabbits other TD came when Edward McClendon caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Nate Hanna.
