The Mustangs opened the season with a road trip to Tucson and returned as victors.
The game was tied at 16 in the third before the Mustangs took the lead. Rincon (0-2) had a late pass touchdown taken off the board because of a penalty.
Desert Mountain 51, Mesa 26
The Jackrabbits gave up a kickoff return for a score to open the game, and never recovered from a large deficit to fall to 0-2 on the season.
Kris Jackson scored three touchdowns for Mesa, but it came after 2-0 Desert Mountain’s lead grew to 37-6.
Jackson scored on an 80-yard run, an 82-yard punt return and a 35-yard run.
