Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport continued its year-long growth trajectory, posting the highest passenger traffic counts for the month of October in the airport’s history. In October, 100,891 passengers traveled through the airport, an 8 percent increase over October 2015. In addition, the airport welcomed its 8 millionth Allegiant passenger since the airline began operations in Mesa in 2007.

“More and more air travelers are discovering the value and convenience of using Gateway Airport,” said Executive Director/CEO J. Brian O’Neill, A.A.E. “Customers appreciate our easy access, inexpensive parking, hassle-free terminal, and low airfares.”

Mesa Mayor John Giles, chairman of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority added, “Eight million Allegiant passengers in nine years is truly a success story. Our partnership with Allegiant creates a significant economic benefit for the Phoenix East Valley.”

Allegiant Airlines currently provides non-stop service to 38 destinations from Gateway Airport, including the recently-added flight to Cleveland, Ohio that begins in February.  The airport will welcome over 1.4 million passengers this year and recently announced new non-stop service to Calgary and Edmonton on NewLeaf and WestJet Airlines.
