Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa hosted a Halloween party for pediatric patients; bringing costumes, decorations and Halloween activities to ensure children in hospital care get to enjoy Halloween.
Spirit Halloween has its Spirit of Children program, which focuses on making hospitals less scary for kids and their families. They raise funds through customer donations at local stores for Child Life departments in hospitals across the United States and Canada.
“We feel so privileged to be able to do what we do for 139 partner hospitals across the United States and Canada to support their Child Life department,” said Rick Tereo, director, corporate administration, Spencer Spirit Holdings, Inc. “Because Child Life is not federally funded and not reimbursed by insurance, hospitals rely on philanthropy to support this critical function. We are proud that 100 percent of every dollar we collect is donated to support the good works of Child Life specialists. And to be able to celebrate Halloween with a party at 88 of our hospitals each year is an added pleasure for both the children and Spirit Halloween volunteers.”
Last year, Spirit of Children raised $64,610 for Cardon Children’s Medical Center granting the hospital partner a total of $248,215 to date. This Halloween, Spirit of Children will host 88 Halloween events nationwide, bringing smiles to children across the country.
