Jan Stamey is a dedicated volunteer at Red Mountain Ranch Elementary School. She was honored at the March 28 Mesa Public Schools Governing Board meeting.

Stamey changes students’ lives at Red Mountain Ranch Elementary with her expertise, kindness and patience. That’s why she’s Volunteer of the Month.

For more than five years, Stamey has been a devoted and reliable volunteer. Her commitment shows through her actions.

As a retired teacher and reading specialist, Stamey is highly knowledgeable with high expectations for her learners. She arrives at school an hour early to prepare lessons for struggling readers. She targets skills that need refinement and plans meaningful one-on-one interventions.

Along with preparing homework assignments, Stamey writes letters and makes phone calls to help parents better support their children at home. She coordinates tutoring and makes beautiful bulletin boards displaying student work. Stamey goes to great lengths to encourage students and ensure they succeed.

Stamey is passionate and caring, with a loving and selfless heart. She is an invaluable asset for both students and staff.

Stamey received a certificate, tumbler, coaster, candy bouquet and copy of the tribute from Mesa Public Schools. She was also awarded a $50 Amazon gift card from the Mesa Foundation for Educational Excellence.
