Local Lost Our Home Pet Rescue celebrates National Mutt Day

Monday, July 31 is National Mutt Day and Lost Our Home Pet Rescue, a local shelter in Tempe, will be celebrating by offering $40 off all dogs for the entire month of August.

Come meet Blaire, a mix breed who is completely blind and lived her whole life in a backyard before coming to the shelter. When her owner passed away, the family had a garage sale where David, a good Samaritan, saw Blaire and asked what the family planned to do with her. They didn’t have a plan, so he asked if he could take her and the family said yes and gave Blaire to this total stranger. David brought her to Lost Our Home Pet Rescue.

When Blaire arrived, she was covered with ticks and had tick fever. The Lost Our Home Pet Rescue staff bathed her, treated her for ticks and brought her to the vet to get the medicine she needed. Now, she is doing much better and currently resides in one of the offices at the shelter. The unfamiliar sights and sounds of the kennels are a little unsettling for her since she can’t see what’s going on around her. Blaire’s also not crazy about other dogs for probably the same reason. She does like cats and she loves kids. Other than needing a little help navigating her way around new spaces, she’s just like any other dog. She love treats, likes to go for walks and can even walk on the treadmill.

Blaire is a great example of why it is so important to plan for the future of your pet, should they outlive you.
