This is our annual water safety/drowning prevention pool party event that we hold in Mesa to educate families about how to be safe in and around the water at every age,” said Lela Hinds Peterson, fire and life safety education specialist for the city of Mesa. “Last year we had 23 water-related incidents in Mesa and that is 23 too many. Drownings are 100 percent preventable, they can happen to anyone in a matter of seconds.
