Mesa Police Department Sgt. Diana Williams provided an update yesterday to a homicide that occurred on May 19 at 1464 S. Stapley Drive. She said the 19 year-old victim, Cristian Camarena, was located deceased after the police department received a report of a possible assault in his apartment.
Since the incident, Williams said: “Our investigators have been working diligently to locate all parties involved. Yesterday, three suspects were located and apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force supported by the El Paso Police Department’s Gang Unit and SWAT Team along with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Air Support Unit in El Paso, Texas.
“Our local East Valley Violent Offender Task Force played an important role of coordinating the contact with our investigators and the law enforcement agencies in El Paso, Texas,” Williams said. “The results of this case was a success by the partnerships of our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.”
She said suspects are awaiting extradition to Arizona, therefore, further details of the case cannot be released at this time.
