The Mesa Police Department last night identified the victim from yesterday morning’s vehicle fatality on Center and University as Nicole Michelle Wade, 45.
On May 11, at approximately 4 a.m. Wade was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on University just east of Center, said Sgt. Diana Williams, spokesperson for the Mesa PD. She said Wade was driving westbound when she stopped her vehicle in the center turning lane and exited her vehicle to remove a deceased cat laying in the eastbound lanes on University. While on the street, Wade was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound, Williams said. Wade was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased a short time after arrival. No indication of impairment as a factor in this case, Williams said.
