On July 17 at approximately 4:52 p.m., Mesa police were dispatched to a plane crash at the Longbow Golf Club, 5601 E. Longbow Parkway in Mesa. Detective Nik Rasheta, a spokesperson for the Mesa Police Department, said the call comments stated an airplane crashed onto fairway No. 10 and was on fire. First responders arrived and put out the fire, he said.

“Mesa police secured the scene and helped locate witnesses and take statements that will facilitate the investigation carried out by FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) officials,” Rasheta said. “The aircraft involved is a Lancair Evolution and was occupied by two individuals (pilot and passenger) who were deceased at the scene. The pilot has been identified as 53-year-old Alan Ram and the passenger was identified as 22-year-old Krista Buchanan.”

Rasheta added: “This investigation is ongoing and has been turned over to officials from the FAA.”
