Nielson named November MPS Volunteer of the Month

Krista Nielson is admired for her kindness and positive energy. Students, staff and parents at Hawthorne Elementary appreciate her devotion to the school. Nielson was recognized at the Nov. 22 board meeting as Volunteer of the Month.

Tribute to Krista Nielson

Nielson has been an important part of revitalizing the parent-teacher organization at Hawthorne Elementary.

She makes everyone feel welcomed and valued. She has encouraged other parents to recognize their own leadership abilities and uses her bilingual skills to ensure all voices are heard.

Nielson has spearheaded many school events that make Hawthorne a special place. She deserves the spotlight for all of the time and effort she puts into everything she does for the community. She manages to do it all with a smile on her face and warmth in her heart.

Her hard work has made a lasting impact on the students, staff and parents of Hawthorne Elementary.

Volunteer of the Month prizes

Nielson received a certificate, tumbler, coaster, candy bouquet and copy of the tribute from Mesa Public Schools. She was also awarded a $50 Amazon gift card from the Mesa Foundation for Educational Excellence.
