Skyline senior football player Zach Bailey had emergency surgery early Saturday morning after sustaining an injury to his kidney.
Bailey was slow to get up after he was tackled. While the hit didn’t look like anything out of the ordinary on film, it led to his kidney bleeding and it was leaking urine, according to Skyline coach Angelo Paffumi.
It was the first catch of his career.
Bailey is being monitored at Banner Desert to see if it the kidney will have to be removed.
The Coyotes lost 49-27 at Hamilton on Friday.
