Carlos Olivas, 29, was apprehended and taken into custody by the Tempe Police Department on Friday night, according to Mesa police. Olivas was the person of interest for a sexual assault that occurred in Mesa on Aug. 15.
“Investigators worked around the clock to identify, locate, and capture Carlos for these disturbing crimes,” said Sgt. Diana Williams, spokesperson for the Mesa Police Department. “Mesa police detectives interviewed Carlos and he confessed to the sexual assault incident in Mesa.”
Williams said Olivas was booked for two counts of indecent exposure and two counts of disorderly conduct by Tempe police. He was also booked for one count of sexual abuse and one count of indecent exposure by Mesa police.
“The outcome of this case would not have been possible without the great teamwork by Tempe and Mesa police personnel,” Williams said.
