Who will be ‘King of Wings’ at Mesa’s 6th annual Wingstock?

Calling all chicken wing lovers to the sixth annual Wingstock (“Where music and chicken meat”) at the Mesa Amphitheatre this Saturday.

Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Venue Coordinator Dyan Seaburg says it’s the only chicken wing festival in Arizona.

“This is our sixth year hosting and it just keeps getting better and bigger each year,” Seaburg said. “What’s fun about Wingstock is that everyone can attend and vote for who you think should be crowned the ‘King of Wings’ and see which flavor of wing is judged ‘Best Wing of Wingstock.’

“We have live music, games for kids and of course our wing-eating contest – see who can eat the most wings in under five minutes! It’s a full day of fun for the whole family.”

The event will kick off with a Halloween activity for the kids at 10:30 a.m., before the live music and fun begins at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Mesa Amphitheatre, 263 N. Center St.

Sample, vote and dive into 5 pounds of chicken wings during the wing-eating contest. There will be live music, food, contests, fun activities for the kids, plus see if the current three-time reigning champs, ATL Wings, can hold onto their coveted crown, “King of Wings” and see who will have the “Best Wing of Wingstock.”

This year’s participating restaurants include: ATL Wings; The Draft Sports Grill; The Monastery Mesa; Queen’s Pizzeria; Booty’s Wings, Burgers and Pizza; The Wing Counter; Echo 5 Sports Pub and Jolie’s Place, and more. Interested restaurants can contact Wingstock at: wingstock@mesaaz.gov.

Two stages of live music will feature local bands including Mogollon, Zubia Brothers, Vintage Wednesday and Elvis Before Noon. Contests for both kids and adults will be held throughout the day and will include a chicken wing song dance off, egg toss, and new this year, a Pumpkin Chuckin’ contest.

Admission is $8 in advance, $12 at the door. Children 10 and under are free with a paid adult. Military and first responders with proper ID receive free admission. Wing coupons can be purchased at the event, $3 for four coupons or $10 for 14 coupons. Purchase admission tickets online at: www.mesaamp.com.
